Off-Season Robotics
What is OSR?
With only six weeks of build time, there isn't much time to learn about the FIRST "Kit of Parts". It's tough to work on innovative ways to apply these kits, let alone make time to experiment on the reliability of these designs. That's why there is Off-Season Robotics (OSR) that runs year round as well as full in-season competition activity.
In OSR, students (with the guidance of the mentors) get to work on developing an idea into a project to create a "Proof of Concept" design. During the year students work on many different types of "proof of concept" projects to learn how to make things happen. There is also the hope that some of these projects can be of use in upcoming FIRST competitions. Not only is that usually the case, but we generally go beyond the norm and engineer projects that push the limits of high school robotics.
OSR is separated into three main categories: software and electronics along with hardware. Select a category to see current projects.
When do we meet?
Every Saturday night, you can find us collected in Mr. Nagy's basement. Not only does he put up with us, but he provides guidance and helps work on many of the subsystems. Oh, and he buys the soda, too.
Mentors and some Software and Electronics members meet on Tuesdays as well.
